According to Police Chief Bill Scott, there was proof that the perpetrator had some prior acquaintance with Bob Lee. However, he refrained from commenting on the potential reason behind the assault.

Nima Momeni, a tech executive, has been taken into custody by the San Francisco Police Department for his involvement in the stabbing incident of Bob Lee, the originator of Cash App, on April 4th.

During a press conference held on April 13, the SFPD revealed that Nima Momeni had been apprehended after the execution of search and arrest warrants in San Francisco and Emeryville. Police Chief Bill Scott stated that there was proof of a prior relationship between Momeni and Lee. However, he refrained from discussing the motive behind the stabbing and mentioned that the investigation was ongoing.

The passing of Lee, who was recognized in the technology industry for developing the Cash App mobile payment platform, has caused a significant impact on the cryptocurrency community. Reports indicating that Lee was acquainted with Momeni have implied that the incident was not a random occurrence, contradicting some media outlets' claims that San Francisco is a high-crime city.

“We knew nothing about the facts of this case immediately after it happened — none of us did,” said San Francisco district attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My urging, through Twitter, through the news, was to really press upon not just the media but the residents of San Francisco and everyone else not to draw conclusions about what happened in this case.”

As of now, there is no clarity regarding the potential charges that Momeni may face related to Lee's demise, but San Francisco Mayor London Breed labeled the incident as a murder. Apart from creating Cash App, Lee had previously held the position of chief technology officer at Square (which later changed its name to Block), served as the chief product officer of MobileCoin, and was a father of two.
